Someone once said, “If kisses were snowflakes, I would send you a blizzard”. And a blizzard it was, as Victoria and James kissed for the cameras under the mistletoe for their Longwood Gardens Engagement.
Besides the magic of cottony snowflakes falling from the skies, Longwood Gardens (1001 Longwood Rd, Kennett Square, PA 19348) with its exquisite Conservatory reminiscent of the splendor of Versailles, fanciful topiaries, wreaths, ornate mirrors, and trees trimmed in sparkling crystal ornaments provided the perfect backdrop for the engagement photo-shoot of our love smitten couple. As the French would say it, it was c’est magnifique!
Leena and I decided to forego our external light sources for this photo-shoot because it would have been near impossible to lug them in the weather. A blizzard, often described, as inclement weather was anything but inclement for snow junkies James and Victoria. Winter was their favorite season; they planned to have their wedding next year in the winter too and so the blizzard was an answer to their silent prayers! We decided to play along, although I prayed fervently that my cameras and lenses would withstand the onslaught of snow and rain. And mercifully it did!
We were very happy with the outcome despite the missing external lights. We had some LED lights in our kitty that we strung around the couple. It made for some lighter moments during the photo-shoot! We had them under a gazebo and captured a shot that could have been mistaken for being taken in a French parterre garden. It is one of my personal favorites. The intense cold did manage to get to the couple within an hour and a half though, with Victoria’s nose turning a bright red and James struggling to keep his balance in his not-so-practical-for snow formal shoes so we decided to call it a day. That means we got to get back to Longwood Gardens some time soon to explore the rest of this magical conservatory.
